Hi, my name is Taylor and this is my senior year in high school at Central Heights ISD. I planned on attending prom this year with my date (who is also a female) and we were told this was prohibited, due to the simple fact that we are the same gender. (The rule states in the student handbook that you may attend "stag" or attend with a date of the opposite sex) It has come to my attention that this has happened to multiple couples who have not spoken up about it, so the rule has not been changed. I would like to start this petition to start a movement and change the rule in the handbook so our LGBT community can celebrate their high school dances without discrimination.
