Protect Volunteer Park

Dec 19, 2016
Greetings fellow Volunteer Park Lovers,
Thank you for speaking out for our beloved park. The Protect Volunteer Park team is continuing to organize resistance to this rogue development project, focusing particularly on the following hurdles: Landmarks Preservation Board approval would be required. Seattle Board of Park Commissioners will have influence. Seattle City Council would have to modify the single-family zoning.
After all the December meetings, the facts have not changed much. The project has hurdles to overcome, but also has institutional momentum. Seattle Dept. of Construction and Inspection is still accepting letters with our environmental concerns asking them to require a full Environmental Impact Statement on the project. Only the combined voices of many citizens will stop it. We have a new online page where you can send advocacy messages with 2 clicks, using your own email program. One click will open a composed message, which can modify as desired, then click again to send it. The page also includes a Sample Advocacy Letter which you can send to your friends and organizations.
Please try it here: http://protectvolunteerpark.org/online-action-center/
Thank you for working to protect Volunteer Park as a beautiful historic landscape for free public use. Please continue to share this petition and post to Facebook and also share our website www.protectvolunteerpark.org with others.
Happy Holidays,
The Protect Volunteer Park Team
As you can see from the photo this is not a modest expansion!
