“Provide students with special needs the in-person education, supplementary aids, and services that they need to succeed. Open schools full-time to some of the most vulnerable students in CCSD.”

Southern Nevada Education Advocates for Kids (SneakNV.org) is requesting that the CCSD provide full-time, in-school education and services for children with special needs. The CCSD has ignored the State of Nevada Department of Education Directive to Districts serving students with IEPs.

Nevada Education Dept Directive #028 says that "In consultation with families, staff, and local public health officials, districts/schools should continue to provide in-person services to students based on needs identified in an Individualized Education Program as long as social distancing, face covering, handwashing, and sanitation measures continue to be upheld.”

But, the CCSD reopening plan for students with an IEP says:

"School staff will consider alternative ways to provide...  equitable opportunities for students with disabilities, including... available supplementary aids and services through online and/or virtual platforms, and/or other activities, such as paper correspondence."
