On April 1 st, our school cancelled our senior prom due to the CONVID-19 Corona pandemic. For the past few weeks, many seniors clinged on to hope that our senior festivities would not be cancelled. This was our year, our last year, and it has been taken away from us. Our class feels robbed of our last potential memories and opportunities to remember in our future. The emotion you get at graduation, when you have accomplished something great in life, is going to get taken from us. Our school has taken our Prom and Graduation is next if we do nothing about it. 

This petition is to follow suit with Semimole county’s Superintendent Dr. Walt Griffin to give the seniors their year's worth by postponing their graduation date to June 12 (If social distancing rules have been lifted). They are also  having a senior dance at their school in place of their senior prom the day before graduation, June 11. If Social Distancing rules have not been lifted by then, they are scheduling July 16 for the dance and July 17 for the Graduation Ceremony. If Clay County School District grants this petition it will give hope to the graduating class of 2020 to one last time see each other, celebrate our high school achievements, and say goodbye before heading out to our new journeys.
