We are at a turning point: after many exhausting months of back and forth between the teachers and the district, a new contract has not been agreed upon and as a result our teachers are discouraged. The Lucia Mar School  District leadership is refusing to simply entertain a fair pay raise for our teachers, even while neighboring districts are receiving considerably higher pay. Our teachers' hands are tied and they are at a breaking point: if an agreement is not reached soon, they will be forced to strike to make their voices heard.

These are the committed men and women who day in, day out devote themselves to educating and nurturing our own kids toward a bright future: now it's our turn to stand behind them. 

Our kids deserve the best: quality teachers that effectively prepare them for lifelong achievement and success. We need to keep our teachers here by treating them fairly. 

While there are many reasons for providing teachers a fair wage (to stay competitive to attract and retain quality teachers, maintaining our local morale and sense of community, etc.) the bottom line is that we know it's the right thing to do.
