Military families strike back, against Super Star Motors Inc

Military families strike back, against Super Star Motors Inc
The Issue
Recently, my husband and I purchased a new/used vehicle from Superstar Motors. We were sent to a "Ex Military" man's car-lot. Shawn, the owner of Super Star Motors Inc, then told us how he takes care of the military- specifically. He gave us this whole spill about how, 'We mean so much to him,' just the whole shabang. We purchased a 2013 hyundai sonata. 44k miles, supposed to have been under warranty, per owner, GM and salesman-great car. Well, after four days the engines stalling, smoke is roaring like a jet, and then it surges. (Mind you, we have 3 children and this happens while acceleration. IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION OFF DYER AND THE HOSPITAL, STOP LIGHT. You talk about scary!!) Then we immediately took it back. Asked to be out of it. We were not happy, nor were we pleased. I was terrified to even sit in it. We then stated what keeps happening with it. You could tell they didn't believe us. We had the owner and GM sign on the contract that they would stand behind the engine 100% & replace it, if need be. But they took it to the shop 'they use' the shop told them it needs a new motor. Now we were told it's getting a new motor. (Meanwhile, the GM had offered me their machinic position they had open. I told them my certs weren't up to date- he said, 'no worries, you don't need it!!!!' Seriously??? I was floored. I knew then nothing good was going to come of our situation.) So, we were put in a loaner for a few days. We go back to pick up the car and and they tell us it just was over filled with oil. Okay, but why? Hmm the car supposedly just had an oil change once we signed. We knew better, because not only have I went to school for Automotive Technology-so has my husband! Plus, it's his MOS! Now, we have the car not even for 2 days and it does it again! Back to Superstar Motors we go. This time, I ask for him to just reverse the transaction, put us in something else or replace the motor-something; as previously discussed. I have it recorded and documented with his signature stating he will replace the motor that it's under warranty through him for 6 months. He says, "well let's take it back to the shop." Instead it goes to Hyundai. So back into another loaner we go for a couple more days. Thenceforward, everytime we took the car it was full on fuel. We would get it back empty (and have to fill his loaners up too)! Because they would drive it like crazy to try to get it diagnosed. Plus, driving out there over 20 plus times, in one month y'all. We go back to pick the car up-it's now the intake, throttle body etc. They're all clogged. But it's good now! 3 days later, the car does it again. We take it back. It's too full on oil again. This is absurb. By this time, between all this, we've had to make two trips to have the entire entire flushed! We have asked repeatedly at this point just to be out of it and now "he can't do it." It'll cost him too much. Per the GM. So, the entire time Super Star Motors Inc. is telling us, "it's just you, there's nothing wrong with the car." We get the car back and drive it not even a day and it does it again. Back to Superstar Motors we go again. This time it's a a valve that lets access oil seep through when there to much pressure and it releases into the top of the engine. At first, we walk in, demand for the engine to be replaced as agreed and he tells us no and so I demand for reversal, he said no. Thenthe GM walls in and says, 'Let our mechanic take a look.' I knew immediately I didn't want him touching it. He's not certifed. I have all this on record. Standing in Shawns office, telling them he's not certifed and if he touches our car, it will void the warranty. They agreed. At first they tried arguing with me. Then we look out an his machenic has already been told by the GM to look at it. I was livid. But then Shawn and Mikey said, "It's okay, Hyundai will never know.. They busted the bolts lose first and now they're responsible." All this was recorded as well. Even walked outside and took photos of him under it with the top end apart. So then, Shawn has us take it back cause oils all over the top end. Spark plugs are even covered in oil. We get back, and are sent away again. The very next day, it stalled, and surges again, but this time the smoking is worse. Back we go. At this point he wants nothing to do with us, sends us back to Hyundai and they say it's over filled on oil again. Which isn't the case. Oils on the top end and on spark plugs and nothing's done. We get the car back and immediately have to take it back because it's getting even worse. Now the owner, Shawn, is apparently friends with the owner of Hyundai and 'apparently' he told Shawn he'd take care of it. Meanwhile, we find out the car isn't under warranty and Hyundai can't do anything about the car. The owner, Shawn, of Super Star Motors Inc- now blames his employees, us, and Hyundai for it not being resolved and he's pissed (cursing, telling, and degrading all his employees and Hyundai) cause nothings being done!! I know right?? HIS DEALERSHIP!!! HIS car. So, we get the car back a few days later and not even a day passes and it does it again. Yes! I know! So, we go up there, this place is patheic y'all! The GM wouldn't even help us, ignored us and said, "It's Shawns call. Can't help you." Then I literally force called him over because somethings happenhappeninghappening!!!!!! We are done!!! 14k for a car we haven't even driven!! He then accepts the fact that something has to give, after I mentioned seeking a lawyer. Then as we are talking to the GM waiting on the owner to get there- the owner LITERALLY ignores us, as he walks right past us. Again, tells us, it's us, not the car. So, we tell the GM to get in and we will show him. We go not even a mile and POOF!!! JET TRAIL! He's astonished. Finally. We get back, he tells everyone-'Its true!!' That confirmed for us that we were right. No one BELIEVED us. THEY BELIEVE US NOW. But is the owner wanting to help us?? Nope! No new engine. No new car. Not even willing to refund us our money. He agrees to get us out of it. But as we were fixing to settle, Shawn calls all his employees into the office, chews them out and wouldn't let the GM do his job. Back to Hyundai, he's no longer giving us a loaner while its back in the shop, again. He simply can't, 'it's audit week.' Mind you, you know he has a car. A decent, concerned, responsible business owner would've at least got us into a rental. Hence, we just take it ourselves for an update and it's 'should' fix it this time. We are sitting there waiting and Im like, "Baby, can we just see if it's possible to get out from under it." So, we worked with the best people. At Hyundai, where we should've started off at. Got into a 2018 elantra. For only 20k plus they helped us with all our negative equity. GET THIS!! The car had hail damages, which knocked the value down by the thousands, 7,500 to be exact and after a month this cars still not registered!!! To say we were ripped off, lied too, shamed, and put through the ringer is an understatement. Oooh, and THEY ARE (apparently) BLACKLISTED. He preached the whole time on how he was 'endorced through Fort Bliss' and how he'd get our military men and women to come to him and even get them to go to their friends and make them have actual dealerships reimburse them just so they could come to him. Oooh and their mechanic they have now isn't certifed. I have the owner and GM admitting it too, on record.
There's so much more, but bottom line-DON'T BE STUPID AND IGNORANT like we were. Don't go to them! Help us, 15+ victims all willing to contest and sign.
