Our goal is to remove the Senior Exit Project as a graduation requirement from the Vail School system. Me and many students believe the SEP is a burden and a complete waste of time. Many seniors already have after school activities, jobs, or hobbies and the SEP can get in the way of that. We believe the SEP is forced community service and just a poorly thought out way to get students to help the community. Generations before did not need to complete a senior exit project and were free to continue to pursue their own interests inside and outside of school. Current and future seniors should not have to deal with a project that adds levels upon levels of stress and work. If there are seniors that would like to shadow or intern, they are allowed to do so, but not everyone should be forced to. Students could recieve a GPA boost or something rewarding if they choose to complete it. Since it is a graduation requirement, students who excel in school might find themselves struggling to complete the SEP and might end up not graduating.
