Nahiem Paris who attends SUNY Purchase, has been accused of using and having possession of a taser, which in fact neither are true. On August 29th 2021, at 2:30am, Nahiem decided to walk his friend Sarahfina home, but he first went upstairs to get his phone off the charger and then hears a zap from outside. The zap turned out to be a taser of Sarahfina. Sarahfina questioned him if he wanted to hold it, and he agreed to hold it as they walked her home to her dorm, which is a walk across campus. As they began to walk, a university police officer followed after them and stopped them, questioning why Nahiem had the taser in the first place. After the UPD questioned Nahiem, the officer then called for back up after he told Nahiem he was just going to confiscate it. Nahiem at the moment stated that the taser was in possession because its for self-defense and that being on a open campus with multiple rape allegations and also racial crimes in the past, also stating he had no knowledge of it being illegal. Nahiem was called in for a hearing without notice and they charged him for possession and use of the taser. He spoke up about the taser not being his and is still being threatened to be suspended.
