Sunshine Coast Council Pound Transparency

Sunshine Coast Council Pound Transparency

The issue

This is a definition of the meaning of council - an advisory, deliberative, or administrative body of people formally constituted and meeting regularly. This means that they have to be transparent in their workings. BUT they refuse to give figures on incoming and outgoings of their council run pounds in Sippy Creek and Landsborough. Furthermore Landsborough Pound is only mentioned in their Sunshine Coast Domestic Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Strategy.

If you ring up Sippy Creek Pound and ask for their figures they will say they don't need to release them. If you ask their management if they have a zero euthanasia rate they boycott the question, even if you ask them several times in a row. They claim they have plenty of rescues to take the animals but will not confirm if they have a zero euthanasia policy.

Thus I am asking council where is your transparency?

You are by definition for the people and by the people. Where are the regularly released figures to view? Where is this so called Landsborough Pound that is only mentioned in your strategy but not even on your website?

What happens to the animals in the tax paying council pound???

Tiffany SparkesPetition starterI strongly believe in animal welfare. Amongst various issues we need to see all councils in Australia offer cheap desexing for all citizens.
