Why this petition matters

Started by Deborah Melrose

Councils give cat traps to unqualified residents (especially over long/weekends & the animals are mistreated & traumatised. Some residents won't return the animals to the Pound & councils don't do a collection service. This is purely a revenue tragetting strategy by councils as they won't clear out strays from parks, drains etc as strays can't be traced back to owners so they only target neighbourhood cats. This problem sets neighbour against neighbour & it it also kills & injures & extremely traumatised animals. If the council's won't do their job stop the animal abuse by neighbours or residents. A cat was trapped by a resident & kept in full summer sun in 38oC temperature without water for 2 days. He was abused & injured & needed vet care. Stop councils from giving traps to your neighbours please. It is cruel & not managed by the sunshine coast council properly. It's purely revenue raising & not animal welfare related.
