Thank you for signing the petition regarding the massive residential, office, hotel and retail development on the historically significant and beautiful Sunset Magazine property in Menlo Park.
On March 12 we met with Mayor Cecelia Taylor, the District 3 City Council Member Jen Wolosin and the City Attorney Nira Doherty. Bottom line: We were told that the City is following the application process according to City rules.
Ms. Wolosin has written a statement which has been sent to her constituents and if you contact her, she can send it to you directly jwolosin@menlopark.gov She and Mayor Taylor cttaylor@menlopark.gov want to hear from you.
This horrific development is possible because of the new laws passed by the California State Legislature. Assembly Member Marc Berman and State Senator Josh Becker joined Governor Newsom in supporting this effort. Consequently the State has severely limited the options for Menlo Park and all municipalities. Menlo Park is not alone.
One state-wide organization Our Neighborhood Voices has a comprehensive plan to challenge the State of California’s housing mandate that has made the Sunset Magazine project possible. Read about their mission and impressive progress: ourneighborhoodvoices.com
