My name is Yasko Takeno-Williams, director of SUNNYSIDE BALLET(www.sunnysideballet.com).I tried unsuccessfully to open a ballet studio on 43rd Avenue (between 43rd and 44th). After securing a lease I was immediately made aware of the zoning violation for such a business. It is this matter that I am now seeking your attention and support. I would simply like to build a dance space where we can also have yoga classes and kid friendly activities. This petition is in support of changing the necessary zoning to allow art oriented and dance oriented businesses in that small stretch of property. It will be presented to the Dept of City Planning as well as Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer. Anything you can do to shed some light on this matter will be greatly appreciated.
