Caffe Sapore has been open for 23 years at the corner of Lombard and Taylor in North Beach, San Francisco. The landlord has terminated the lease without explanation. Sapore is a second home, living room, and meeting space for our neighbors. 

The impeding closure of Caffe Sapore forces our neighborhood, city, tenants, landlords and politicians to ask: What is the value of our shared spaces? They represent community, friendship, human connection, trust, and safety. How do we preserve these ideals when the spaces that bring us together disappear.
