For the past three years I have lived off a single track road just off the hope road. In my time living and travelling on the road I have seen 20 accidents, most that serious the road has been closed for a number of hours.

However, Sunderland city council when asked what can be done to slow down traffic and make the road safer, this was their reply

‘I have examined accident records to ascertain if there is an accident problem, which if confirmed would prompt detailed investigation to be carried out.  The latest records available for Tunstall Hope Road indicate that there have been no personal injury accidents recorded by Northumbria Police in the three year period ending 31st March 2020.  Three years is the standard time span used in a road safety investigation.’

I ask you to please sign this petition to help the council understand truly how dangerous this road is, especially for local residents who use this road everyday and for a solution before it is too late and there is a fatal accident.
