This is huge! Starbucks has been hauled up by the Government of Maharashtra for violating the ban on plastics. You must have seen this too as it was all over the news yesterday. Reports say surprise inspections revealed that Starbucks is still using banned plastic straws and disposable cutlery etc. The statewise plastic ban in Maharashtra was announced earlier in January this year. It came into effect over the weekend on 23rd June, 2018. While this has been welcomed by a majority of us citizens (as well as some businesses), a lot of companies have been struggling with the implementation. One report I read said that many companies are scrambling for eco-friendly options. They’re talking about wooden cutlery, paper cups and even straws made of cornstarch! This has made feel extremely hopeful about my campaign. The one that all of you have supported. And how! As you all know, I’m not going after just one outlet. I want all 101 Starbucks stores to bring in recyclable cups. It’s time Starbucks takes action on the #PlasticBan. It’s time they make #EveryCupMatter.
