Sulphur Springs BESS Project

The Issue

The undersigned oppose the Sulphur Springs Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project which proposes the building of a 316 Megawatt Battery Energy Storage System on 15 acres of local farmland between Powerline and Jerseyville Road. This land is zoned as agriculture and is on the greenbelt, in close proximity to the rail trail and forests. This proposal will turn our agricultural land into an industrial area, affecting our soil, wildlife, and wetlands. No long term safety studies have been done to evaluate risks to health, air and water.
