Sullivan County Board of Education operations policy 1.100 Legal Status and Authority states the governing body shall be the board of Education serving residents within the boundaries of the school system. 
Qualifications to become an elected member of this board currently fall under the Sullivan County Privacy Act of 1971 Chapter 163- stating the Board will have seven members composed of one member per each seven school districts. These school district currently include Kingsport City and Bristol City that now have their own independent School Board as stated in Charter of Kingsport Privacy Act 1980 Chapter 244 and Bristol City Privacy Act 1986 Chapter 179. Both stating members must reside with City Limits and school district. 

As the stated above the board serves residents within boundaries of the school system. We petition that in order to be an elected Board member of the Sullivan County School system one must reside within the boundaries of the school system. 
The Tennessee School Board Association And Tennessee Code of Annotation 8-18-101 also states one must be a resident of the school district in order to be eligible to be elected as a member of the Board of Education.
