In the wake of recent complaints about sexual content in minors’ spaces, some content creators in the ASMR/VA community have been called out for such irresponsible behavior. Tweets, Discord servers, and multiple other platforms have been presented as safe spaces, all the while endangering those within them.

It's a harsh reality to face but suggestive content has been normalized in minor's spaces to a fault. Several content creators take advantage of this reality under the guise of teases and fan service, among other reasons, yet some fail and even outright deny taking responsibility for their platform when called out.

We are interested in talking about addressing the elephant in the room: where do we draw the line? This is a problem that has been haunting the community for way too long, but people hesitate to address it in fear of questioning the “standard”, or even ignore it for personal gain. Your signature will furthermore prove that we’re not the only ones who see this way.

Signing, sharing, and submitting feedback goes a long way to drawing a line that everyone can point to when things go wrong, so the whole community doesn't rupture every week. With your help, we can make this community a better place.

GOAL

We firmly believe that an SFW space with minors in it leaves no room for sexually suggestive content and interactions.

There is some discussion that has to be had on where to draw the line, but we do observe that the current trend is for that bar to lower and we do not support that as it compromises the safety of minors.

The more signatures we get, the more awareness we can bring to the issue, the more conversations we can have on where to draw the line, the more pressure we will be able to put to creators to adhere to this line. 

Signing this petition will help us keep content creators accountable to the same standards and responsibilities, leaving no room for double standards, as well as raise awareness to the community as a whole about why this is a problem that needs to be addressed.

DISCLAIMER

This petition urges for content creators to be held accountable and responsible with their platforms; this is not intended to “cancel” anyone. Please do not attack or send any hate to any content creator.

The scope of the petition only includes creators that deliberately cater to minors, regardless of the presence of an SFW indicator. We do not expect responsibility from creators akin to an actual parent’s, but knowing that a creator caters to minors puts implicit responsibility on them to keep their platform safe.

The scope does not include NSFW spaces, and by extension, sexually suggestive content in NSFW spaces that is already labeled as such. Of course, if minors are present in NSFW spaces...

The petition may not be a direct effort to gatekeep minors from accessing sexual content. It does assist in that cause to a certain degree, but our goals are more SFW platform-focused and creator-focused in terms of the changes we demand and do not essentially guarantee a 100% effective way to make sure minors have no access to sexual content.
