Within the dance community, a petition has recently been started demanding that more inclusive shoe colors be offered to suit different skin tones. This petition is more specifically targeted at Suffolk.

This dancewear brand, as per their website, only offers pointe shoes and technique shoes in a nude pink. When you go to select color options for the flat shoes, most only have this pink in the option bar. When selecting pointe shoes, the color menu is replaced with a menu to select the length of the shoe. This strongly suggests that racial inclusivity is not a priority for the brand. This is problematic in an art form that has a long history of racism (especially against black people).

Suffolk cannot be "dedicated to the dancer" if it is only dedicated to the needs of white dancers. If you wear this brand (or even if you don't), I encourage you to sign this petition.
