Sue Activision for unethical gaming transaction practices
The Issue
For over a decade, I have watched Activision change from a beloved gaming company into a corporation driven by profit over player experience. As an avid gamer, this change has become painfully evident, turning faithful players like myself into sources of recurring revenue instead of respected customers. The final straw was when my girlfriend and I decided to enjoy 'Call of Duty: Cold War' together. Having spent $113 solely on her part, we were appalled to find out that, despite the payment, she was unable to access the game because she supposedly needed to purchase it again. This is not an isolated incident. Many players worldwide are also voicing their frustration over this exploitative business model.
Such practices are unacceptable and border on unethical, if not outright illegal. Activision and similar companies should not require players to continuously purchase additional content or packs to access games they have already paid for. This model not only reduces the gaming experience but also imposes a financial burden on dedicated fans who just want to enjoy their favorite games without hidden costs.
The primary objective of this petition is to hold Activision accountable and to prevent such practices from becoming the industry norm. We call on lawmakers to create regulations that protect consumers from aggressive and deceptive digital marketplace tactics. These regulations should ensure that once a customer buys a video game, they should have complete access to its content without needing to make additional purchases.
Furthermore, we seek to collaborate with consumer rights organizations to explore and pursue a possible class-action lawsuit against Activision, pushing for a change in their sales and marketing policies related to in-game purchases. We believe that this issue is critical and that our voices, joined together, can urge Activision towards adopting fairer practices.
Join us in our fight to reclaim consumer rights in the gaming industry. Let us stand united to demand transparency and fair dealings from all gaming companies, starting with Activision. If you believe that players deserve to enjoy their games without unfair financial pressure, please sign this petition today.
