Dear Ms. Colleen Harte and Members of the Collingswood School Board,

We, the parents, players, alumni, and members of the Collingswood community, are coming together to voice our deep disappointment and frustration over the recent decision to overlook Coach Brian Myers for the varsity basketball head coaching position at Collingswood High School.

For years, Coach Brian Myers has been a cornerstone of the Collingswood basketball program — coaching at the middle school and junior varsity levels, volunteering tirelessly for the varsity program, and dedicating himself to the growth, development, and well-being of our young athletes. He is not just a coach — he is a mentor, a role model, and a proud member of the Collingswood community who has consistently gone above and beyond to support our kids.

The decision to pass over Coach Myers, despite his experience, loyalty, and outstanding service, in favor of a candidate with significantly less experience has left many of us shocked, upset, and questioning the fairness of the selection process. This decision does not reflect the values we want to see in our athletic program — values of loyalty, dedication, hard work, and community connection.

We believe the athletes of Collingswood High School — and the entire school community — deserve a head coach who has invested years into building this program from the ground up and who has earned the respect and trust of players, parents, and community members alike.

We respectfully call on the Collingswood athletic department and school administration to:

Reconsider the varsity basketball coaching decision;
Provide transparency on the hiring process;
Recognize and honor the contributions of long-standing coaches like Brian Myers, whose leadership has made a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.
