Save Trumbull High's Fashion Club

The Issue

The Fashion Club has unfortunately been cut from Trumbull High’s club list. COVID-19 has affected many school activities this year, the Fashion Club only being one. This was a shock to students and faculty all around Trumbull High. This club has meant so much to everyone involved in the previous years. Although we cannot have a traditional fashion show this year, we can still come together virtually and celebrate our passion for fashion!

COVID-19 is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly. We understand that we cannot meet in person. However, the club should not be cut entirely.

Recreational clubs are necessary to occupy us students in this uncertain time. In order to continue to excel in our education, students, especially juniors and seniors, need access to information about a potential career. The Fashion Club offers many opportunities to learn about the industry fundamentals in an exciting, eye-opening way. This club promotes safety in all measures. If sports are able to continue during this pandemic, it is only fair for recreational clubs to continue as well. Not every student enjoys athletics, but utilizes the clubs at Trumbull High to express their interests and passions. The Fashion Club offers a creative outlet that sports and academic clubs do not offer. Stripping students of our right to participate in other activities undermines unconventional educational opportunities, specifically the Fashion Club.

One may question how we can experience the activities virtually while still grasping the essence of the club. We plan on modifying the club by organizing Google Meet meetings that would include but are not limited to:

-Guest speakers
-Trend watching
-Fashion Career Day
-Mood-board creating
-Analyzing past runway shows
-General fashion discussions

For the Fashion Club to be attainable, we need as many signatures as possible to show the support and influence this club has. Help make the fate of the Fashion Club our choice, not the administration’s. Please send this link to anyone and everyone you know to help SAVE THE FASHION CLUB!
