To Whom it May Concern,

While not knowing what was to come going into this semester in the middle of a pandemic, students are struggling to maintain attention in online zoom classes. Professors have also had a hard time trying to understand these new online regulations. Students came back to campus with the knowledge of having the option of face to face or online classes while taking precautions to be as safe as they would allow. Even with the in-person classes, some classes only have students in the classroom one day out of the week and online on zoom, or in teams the other days of the week. Professors have also been able to choose when they hold classes, which is impacting other classes and student schedules. Many students cannot learn in this type of environment and are struggling to keep their grades up because of this. This will greatly, and permanently, affect their transcript grades and prospects for future endeavors. Changing our option to Pass/Fail will release stress on students, allow an actual representation of our GPA’s, and support other universities, while also keeping in mind that we are still in the middle of a pandemic. Many students had to take the semester off because they could not learn in an online environment, had to provide for their families and could not focus on school, and/or took the risk to take their classes online or partially online. Giving the students of Coastal Carolina University the pass/fail option would most likely keep your students attending this university while feeling comfortable and confident while doing so. Please support the students of Coastal Carolina University by agreeing with a pass/fail opportunity. Don’t forget to share!
