Maintain the temperature in Sirrine Hall to a more comfortable temperature
The Issue
As a third year student of the College of Business at Clemson University, the majority of my courses are held in Sirrine Hall. As I am sure many of my peers will agree, the temperature is not maintained comfortably in the slightest. For example, today's date is February 25th, 2019, and it is in the mid 60s outside today. Why then, does it feel like it is 80 degrees inside of Sirrine?
There have been multiple studies performed on the relationship of classroom success and temperature, and the results are quite stable across the board: 72 degrees is the optimal classroom temperature for maximization of learning and exam scores. If you would like to read more in to the issue, please feel free to observe the following articles: http://scholar.harvard.edu/files/jisungpark/files/temperature_test_scores_and_human_capital_production_-_j_park_-_2-26-17.pdf ; https://www.usnews.com/news/education-news/articles/2018-05-29/study-hotter-classrooms-make-it-harder-for-students-to-learn
I feel that this issue does not garner enough attention, considering the tuition we pay to attend this school. Comfort is an important aspect of productivity, which in turn could lead to better test scores and more successful students. I hope you take this request seriously and put us in the best position to strive as future businessmen and women of the world.
Go Tigers.
