We students here in the Philippines are given homework at an early age. Right from the very first year in school during our pre-school days, we are forced to do school work at home or what teachers call it – homework. It takes away the chance of a kid to be a kid. Instead of resting or doing the things we want, we need to do our homework and mostly we can’t make time for our family and friends. And how can we have a balanced lifestyle if we spend our whole day in school and do our homework, regularly more than 2 hours. We can’t do other things needed or wanted in life and it adds stress and pressure to us. To make it short, it takes away our one precious life. Also according to research, countries like Finland and Japan don’t have homework and students in the said countries excel more in terms of academics. This proves that homework has no academic benefits. And because of that we, Team C.O.N.G. (aka Change Of the New Generation) decided to promote a campaign and awareness about banning homework here in the Philippines. If homework will be banned, we can spend more time relaxing and enjoying our life with our family and friends, thus helping the brain to take a rest with all the stress coming from the external environment. And lastly, students can have more time for themselves, have a balanced lifestyle and live life to the fullest.

     Our group’s main purpose in comprehending this kind of petition is to advocate and express our deep perception about homework being banned. Yes, it may not give us harm in some ways, but to consider our own responsibilities and obligations in life. And to extend our knowledge the analogy, student:school and child:house, should not exchange their roles.
