Many local school districts offer a gym credit to students who play a varsity sport for their school. Students who contribute 10+ hours a week of physical activity, time and hard work to their team believe that those hours mean much more than 3 semesters of a chosen gym class throughout high school. It would offer student-athletes, who juggle many other things besides being on a competitive sports team and school-priorities, more time and freedom to take electives that interest them along with study halls which offer them more time to focus on their class work.
