The Issue
- °Students are dealing with a a lot when it comes to academic excellence and wanting to be the best at what they do and what they will do for their families and the rest of the world, tertiary level proves that one is at a the last step of the ladder to success, but how can that be successful if they are granted space to practice that success into reality?One of the main aims of the University is to isolate students from their homes(comfortable zone) to a more focused, peaceful study warming environment.
- TUT has promised Laptops, delivered study material for students to study at home, have they received it? Quantity survey showed 72% of students who want to come back to their respective residences to only study and have online test.
- Gauteng has the leading confirmed cases of covid-19 but still UJ and Wits managed to welcome back their students to safely, cleansed covid-19 free rooms.
- Students are struggling to study at home and also having to worry about home basic needs, they are matured, no one can risk being infected by covid-19 and how to do that:
- Students should be only allowed to enter and exit residences only twice a week.
- Students should not be allowed to go back to campuses but only residences, in that way, online test, assignment submissions can be successfully conducted.
- Every student should be checked if they have a mask on and a sanitizer and be scanned on main gate everytime.
- Schools should be closed not universities, only universities are able to conduct learning online and that can only be successful if all students are brought back to residences and academic year resumes.
- Dr blade Nzimanze stated the dates of when the universities should resume let us follow those instructions, one way or another people will get infected,one just needs to take care of themselves.
- We need to split just incase one member gets infected to not infect all members of the house
- Residences have WiFi,online can only happen on resinces only, where there are only two roommates , maintaining social distance what harm could happen?
- Going back to residences should be optional, if one feels threatened,they shouldn't come back and study at home, but for those who wish too, they have enough in their hands then to come back for parties and sex, some have valid reasons not all of students have nice, warm family rings.
- Please take those who want to come back, there was a reason they applied far from home, still want to come back, do not take that opportunity away from them, we do not know when this pandemic will cool down but we know our future is at stake, something needs to be done.
- Strict rules should apply and if not followed,they shall be shown back home, we also have rights and a say to what works best for students we are not objects.
