The deadly coronavirus is currently spreading throughout the world. A college campus has thousands of students that attend the school each day, and a good amount of students that share a small room during class. I have talked to many students at Irvine Valley College, which I attend, that are very afraid of catching this virus, and even more scared of catching it on campus. People are walking around with masks on to protect themselves, but what about surfaces such as desks, doors and class material that is being passed around that is sharing germs through contact?

I believe this school, and all schools in general, should be closed during this time to prevent the spread of germs, and this deadly virus that is being spread around right now through contact. As I said before, students at IVC right now are scared of missing school, but are more afraid of catching this virus through going to classes and sharing contact with others, and through surfaces. I am as well very afraid to catch this virus as I have a very low immune system, and students that do not want to miss school due to repercussions of missing work, attendance, and participation points, are showing up to school coughing and congested. 

I decided to start a petition to take precautions and to prevent the spread of illness through school while this easily spread virus is traveling throughout the world. Neighboring cities have shut down colleges due to this, I believe this is a safe movement to make. Our students are in tremendous fear, and I hope the school can consider to close campus in light of coronavirus spreading. Please spread the word.
