Administration and Students

Administration and Students
The Issue
Inglemoor High School's Administration has been enforcing unreasonably strict regulations and consequences on its student body. Firstly, by delaying yearbook distribution for the widely recognized tradition of a senior skip day, administration is punishing the hard working staff of Scandia. The staff has been working all year to provide seniors with a yearbook that they should have time to get properly signed. Not only is Admin punishing Scandia through delaying the distribution of their product, but also by threatening to take away their tradition of the lip dub. This is unfair not only to Scandia, but the whole school as not everyone was involved in senior skip day. In addition to this, senior skip day has been a long recurring tradition not only in Inglemoor High School, but throughout the country. The idea of abruptly punishing one class with no prior warning of the consequences is unjust. In addition the unnecessary threat of not allowing students to attend senior brunch or even walk at graduation while students have been collaborating with faculty about the prank even with previous permission is completely uncalled for and shows that the admin has no respect for the hard work every student and family has put forward for the entirety of their educational careers. In addition to this punishment, the way admin has treated the topic of wearing cultural clothing to graduation is discriminatory towards its Hawaiian students and students from other cultures. Not allowing students to wear leis and other cultural clothing to graduation stifles diversity and disrespects the families and cultural traditions of graduating students. The student body of Inglemoor High School hopes that the administration will reflect upon and reconsider its recent decisions.
