The requirement broadly open membership requires student groups to accept all individuals interested in an program if they meet basic requirement. It also prevents "tests" to filter through candidates. This policy is destroying community at Stanford, is making it impossible to implement programs with limited resources, and prevents the selection of quality, committed candidates to programs. Please sign the petition to show your support for Stanford Student Activities & Leadership (SAL) to remove the open membership requirements.
