Why this petition matters

Started by Michelle zini

We are petitioning against the redundancy of the entire Ground Staff team of seven employees at Coram's Fields.
Many families in the community were completely shocked and saddened when we recently found out that the entire team going to be made redundant.
Noel and John and others are not just Ground Staff, they are the face on the ground of Coram's Fields for over 20 years. Noel and John are known by generations of families who still use the park, they are part of the park's history and play a major role in our community.
Parents and children feel safe when they are around, as they are familiar faces. The ground staff know all the issues surrounding the park and community and are well able to identify individuals, defuse situations and make everyone feel safe and wanted.
Parents feel uplifted when they see Noel or John as they have a little chat.

The Ground Staff team worked selflessly through Covid keeping everything going, whilst Coram's management was able to stay at home. To be be treated like this by the management, after all their years service to the park, is very sad. The team should be rewarded for their service instead having to face redundancies.

The redundancy process seems singularly unfair towards the Ground staff. The Ground Staff are expected to be cut for the sake of nominal "efficiency" measures. However the staff will be replaced by modified roles and new employees, which Coram's Fields is already advertising.
It is well known and the local community is aware of the unwarranted increases in the management salary bill in Coram's Fields in recent years. If cuts are needed they should be made else we’re as these members of the team are irreplaceable.

Please join us in our petition to defend Noel, John and other ground staff members at Coram's Fields.
