This petition is to Moonee Valley City Council. We therefore encourage signatures from people residing in that council area.  Before signing please ensure your details are correct, especially the postcode, because it is this information that will enable the council to see the level of support from residents in their municipality.  We need as many residents as possible.

We, the undersigned, request that Moonee Valley City Council (MVCC):

• amend the Green Action Plan to include interim science-based community emissions reduction targets (below 2005 levels) of:

  • 50% reduction by 2025 

  • 75% reduction by 2030 

• in order to: 
  • meet MVCC's target of zero net emissions for our community by 2040,
  • respond with the urgency required in line with the Climate Emergency Declaration, and
  • support the Paris Agreement to limit global temperature increase to well below 2º.

We fully support Council in setting these targets, and funding the actions to achieve them, in order to create a better future for our community.
