Strictly Come Dancing is in It’s 20th year! a fabulous fun competitive entertainment enjoyed by millions of people here in the UK & across the world! 
However, as a fan I can’t help noticing that Real Feathers are still being commonly used on the Strictly dance costumes which surely in 2024 could (& should!) be substituted for something just as glamorous but a lot less Cruel!

Emily Williamson who started the Society for the Protection of Birds in 1889 after becoming sickened by the slaughter of exotic birds for their feathers! Yet here we are over one hundred and thirty years later & feathers are STILL being stolen from birds! This cannot continue.

I have always loved birds. Their beauty, their freedom, and most notably, their feathers. However, the reality is cruel. Millions of birds are harmed annually to provide the feathers used in fashion, decor, and craft industries. Using real bird feathers is abhorrently cruel, a practice that needs immediate termination. It is unsettling that these beautiful creatures suffer for our frivolous needs.

Statistics reveal an alarming escalation in this practice. As stated by Humane Society International, millions of birds are bred, exploited, and often live in appalling conditions just for their feathers. Their vibrant lives cut short to serve fashion industry whims. Bird feathers are not a necessity, they are a choice. A choice that carries the weight of the suffering of countless birds.

We would like to respectfully urge Strictly Come Dancing to set a kind example & put an end to using Feathers which are afterall a product of cruelty! Isnt It time to send a clear message to the industry that cruelty is not fashionable. Product manufacturers must look toward cruelty-free and sustainable alternatives. In this modern age, there should be no place for pain and suffering in the name of beauty or style.
