Stricter Sentencing for Lim Chuan Xun for the Assault Resulting in Yakult Lady's Death

The Issue

At the heart of our community in Sengkang, we lost an incredible woman renowned simply as our Yakult Lady. This kind woman, adored by many, showed up on our doorsteps every Tuesday with a warm smile. Memories of her kindness are still fresh. This petitioner warmly recalled that, during our last Mid-Autumn Festival, we saw her and excitedly wished her Happy Mid-Autumn when she arrived. Her warm spirit has touched us all in Sengkang in countless ways.

Unfortunately, her life was abruptly and tragically ended due to an assault by Lim Chuan Xun on 29 Oct, while she was doing her usual Yakult rounds. We were shocked and saddened by the news of her passing, and the fact that her life was taken unnecessarily and violently has left us reeling.

Sentencing for such a heinous crime should reflect its severity and the pain caused to the victim and the community. Lim Chuan Xun, for his part in this tragedy, should be adequately sentenced. This will send a message to the public and to uphold justice for crimes of such nature.

It is appalling to hear that, if convicted of voluntarily causing grievous hurt, Lim would only face a penalty of up to 10 years jail, fine or caning, or a combination of punishments. It seems like the current penal code is insufficient for this case. So a more appropriate, harsher sentencing would send a powerful message to society about the severity and consequence of violence, and more importantly, serve justice for the Yakult Lady and all who loved her.

Join us in demanding stricter sentencing for Lim Chuan Xun. Each signature added to this petition brings us closer to justice. Please sign and share this petition and help us in our fight for justice. Let us honor the Yakult Lady's memory and make sure such a tragedy does not occur again.
