Every year, countless animals suffer from neglect and abuse in puppy mills across the United States. In Ohio alone, The Humane Society reported over 100 puppy mills operating in 2020 (Humane Society). Despite existing animal cruelty laws, enforcement remains inadequate due to lack of resources and oversight.

This petition calls for the city of Columbus to strengthen its enforcement efforts against animal cruelty and specifically target puppy mills. We urge local authorities to allocate more resources towards inspections, investigations and prosecutions.
