To Whom it May Concern:
I am gravely alarmed by the rapidly increasing government overreach which has occurred in America over the last few years, but I am especially concerned about the most recent government overreach: Covid vaccine mandates for K-12 children and educators.
To be clear, I am not anti-vax, nor am I anti-science. That rhetoric is trite and foolish. I am simply pro-liberty.
The recent Covid vaccine mandates have crossed yet another line that Americans never thought would happen: firing dedicated, hard workers who stand on their principles against government control. These mandates are not just a medical issue; they are also a political issue that will impact every aspect of American life for decades to come. This mandate is a doorway to more government control in everyone’s personal life. It will impact how Americans make medical decisions, how Americans do business, how Americans travel, how Americans worship, and, now, whether or not Americans receive equitable education. If a parent chooses not to get the Covid vaccine for their child, they will not receive a public education in California, and if an educator chooses not to get vaccinated, they will be fired.
Let me reiterate: I am not anti-vax. I have half a dozen or more vaccines floating around in my system. Many of my friends and family have been vaccinated against Covid, and I support their choice. But that is a personal medical choice, weighing the risk vs. reward, not a dictatorial obligation imposed without autonomy.
The California government deems it vital to vaccinate all students, grades K-12. Why? It won’t stop the virus; we know vaccinated people spread it too. Is it vital to stop mass K-12 deaths? No. According to the CDC’s own estimates, fewer children K-12 die of Covid than the flu. The children are already safe, thanks to their young immune systems. No need for government mandates.
So why are children being mandated to vaccinate? Maybe there’s a conflict of interest at play, the elephant in the room people refuse to discuss for fear of being labeled “anti-vax.” Moderna reported 4.2 billion dollars in 2021 quarter two sales just from the vaccine, not including any other sales. And Pfizer grossed 7.8 billion dollars in quarter two just from its vaccine, not including any other sales. And that’s just one quarter this year. Maybe they see the 74 million children of America as an untapped treasure trove, billions and billions more to be made.
But that’s another issue.
Now, many parents are being forced to buy* something they don’t want for their children to protect them from something that’s not really a threat, and something many of them have already recovered from very quickly. All the while discussions of natural immunity are fact checked and studies are ignored that show natural immunity is 6.7 times more effective than vaccination. Why? So it will assuage the fears of strangers: media pundits and politicians and celebrities and many people who have conflicts of interest and bias and who haven’t spent a single second of their time actually feeding, bathing, clothing, comforting, or loving the children they intend to force to make this personal medical choice. It should always be the right and responsibility of the parent to make medical decisions with their children because there is no human on earth who loves them like their parents. parents are the only humans innately designed to put children first. Not the government. Parents. Why do we keep giving more power to the government and less power to the parent?
America is founded on freedom. Liberty. That precious, unique, essential element of our nation is arguably the key to our greatness. At the time of our founding in 1776, and since then, no other nation guaranteed such wonderful, unrestrained hope for the individual to be free. And what are we bartering this precious freedom for?
This is not a vaxxer vs. anti-vaxxer fight. This is about liberty vs. control. Are we now willing to refuse American children a public education for making a personal medical choice to not get vaccinated? How much control is too much? Each person has their own line. Some have been uncomfortable with government control for a long time. Others are just starting to get uneasy. Still others are fine with more government control for now. But you can see where this is trending: toward more and more control, less and less freedom. And more control always leads to tyranny.
What will happen if hundreds of Shasta County educators get fired over this? New York had to declare a state of emergency after firing over 70,000 healthcare workers. What will Shasta County do? Governor Newsom’s new mandate will bring education to a standstill in the northstate. According to an article by the Associated Press, “All teachers will have to be vaccinated when the mandate kicks in for the children they teach,” which is expected for high school within the next few months. Many educators will not comply with this mandate, and they will be fired. Schools are already short staffed, desperate for teachers and substitutes. Think education in 2020 was crazy? Just wait. Education in the northstate will utterly collapse once these mandates hit unless we all stand together in defiance of government control. We need the school boards and superintendents, the Shasta County Office of Education, the principals, the parents, the teachers, the students, and the concerned citizens of Shasta County to stand together.
Now is the time to make a stand; don’t wait until the pot of water is boiling to try to jump out. You may not feel ready yet, but it’s time to join those of us who are ready. Parents or educators, children or adults, vaccinated or unvaccinated: now is the time to stand. Consider your future. Do you want a future of freedom or control? I, for one, will not stand for this control. I will be fired first.
United we stand, divided we fall.
