Stopping Soil Pollution : The Green Revolution

The Issue

We at Khalsa Secondary, and all Khalsa Schools have decided to finally address a major issue that needs to be solved immediately. Its Littering. Students of all ages throw their trash where its not suppose to be, such as, the back field, the basketball hoops, the large grass field, and behind the fences as well. Matter of fact, in order to hide their garbage, students will throw their plastic and garbage over the fence onto the road because nobody would even notice. Littering should not be tolerated in our community as Sikhs. Students must learn to throw their trash in designated locations. Hopefully with this petition, we can brighten the minds of the community.

WHO-Since this issue is happening around our school and local community, we plan on getting help from everyone in our school, that includes staff, students and facility. Our main approach is to get help from the students since they are also the ones who are contributing to this. We already have a head start at this ever since our school introduced this new system where if in a class students misbehave, the teacher could write the students names down, give it to the office and have them put on garbage duty, which means they will have to spend their lunch cleaning and picking up garbage.

WHAT- In our school, litter is a major issue that needs to be put to a stop as soon as possible. To conquer that, we will spread word about our petition that will encourage students to start picking up after their messes. The school will supply these unruly students with necessary tools to pick up their garbage so they remain disease free. WHEN- Since littering is almost a daily occurrence in Khalsa Schools, we encourage volunteers to help with garbage cleaning everyday after school. Any students caught littering will be forced to pick up the trash they had just thrown onto soil.

WHERE- Our plan is to get volunteers and students to clean our school area, especially our grass field. We also plan to clean the local community such as the townhouse area, the elementary school surroundings, and the sidewalks and roads around our school. If you go outside or take a look at our poster, you can see in the pictures we took that right outside the fence that gates off the road and our grass field, there are piles of trash, black garbage bags full of cardboard and plastic. It is filthy and disgusting to see. This is a place to learn and have fun but instead, we are throwing trash

WHY- At Khalsa School, our mission to combat littering goes beyond mere tidiness… it's about preserving the very essence of our cherished Earth and soil. Each piece of litter represents a threat to our environment, a silent assailant on the sanctity of our school grounds. But it's more than just cleanliness, it's about upholding our values of respect and reverence. In our private and religious institutions, a clean environment isn't just a preference, it's a reflection of who we are and what we stand for. We need to unite in our commitment to protect our Earth, our school, and the legacy we legacy for our future generation!

HOW- We plan on having groups of students/volunteers and pair them into groups and send them to certain locations at certain times. Khalsa School will supply gloves, garbage bags, and trash pickers in order to prevent any danger. Everyday we will set new groups of people and make sure our local community is as clean as it can be.
