Illegal mining in Benguet inflicts devastating consequences on numerous communities. Farmer in Benguet experience significant crop failure due to water contaminations released by mining operations. This has led to a 3.42% decrease in agriculture yields, impacting the livelihoods of approximately 2000 families. Indigenous communities in affected areas face displacement from their traditional way of life causing immense social and cultural disruption. Furthermore, resident of the affected areas suffer disproportionately from respiratory illness,  with 50% increase in cases reported since 2018, directly linked to airborne pollutants from mining activities. The human cost illegal mining is undeniable and deeply felt by these vulnerable population.
