**#StopDVForever: A Global Movement to End Domestic Violence and Promote Safe, Loving Home

The issue

Dear Friends,

My name is Tessa Murphy, and I would like to share my personal story of resilience and survival in the face of abuse. As a person living with an intellectual disability, I have faced many challenges throughout my life, but nothing could have prepared me for the ordeal I experienced at the hands of my former roommate.

For months, I endured emotional and physical abuse, feeling trapped and helpless in a situation that seemed impossible to escape. However, one fateful day, I found the courage to break free from the torment, fleeing to my next-door neighbor's house and calling the police for help.

As terrifying as it was to take that step, it was the turning point that marked the beginning of my journey toward healing and recovery. The support I received from my neighbors, the police, and the community played an integral role in helping me reclaim my life and sense of self-worth.

It is essential that we recognise the vulnerability of individuals with intellectual disabilities and  other people who don’t have disabilities like me provide the necessary resources and support systems to protect them from abuse. No one should have to endure the pain and suffering that I experienced, and I hope that by sharing my story, I can inspire others to speak out against abuse and create a more compassionate and understanding world.

Together, let us strive to create a society where everyone, regardless of their abilities, feels safe, supported, and valued. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and for your dedication to building a better future for all.

Sincerely,

Tessa Murphy

Dear Friends,

My name is Tessa Murphy, and I am reaching out to each and every one of you with a fervent call to action. The time has come for us to put an end to the scourge of domestic violence, and I need your help to turn this vision into a reality.

Domestic violence is an issue that affects individuals, families, and communities across the globe. The physical, emotional, and psychological scars it leaves in its wake are devastating and far-reaching, and we must do everything in our power to eradicate this horrific form of abuse.

To achieve this ambitious yet necessary goal, I implore you to join me in signing a petition that demands stronger laws, better resources for survivors, and increased awareness surrounding the issue of domestic violence. Together, we can transform this petition into a global movement, sending a powerful message to policymakers and society at large that we will no longer tolerate the perpetuation of violence in our homes.

As we come together in solidarity, let us remember that our voices have the power to enact real change. By signing and sharing this petition, you are not only standing up against domestic violence but also contributing to the formation of a safer, more compassionate world.

Thank you for joining me in this fight, and for your unwavering commitment to creating a brighter future for all those affected by domestic violence.

In unity and hope,

Tessa Murphy
