Firstly, thank you.
Every signature and every share shows that people in this district do care what happens to our countryside. This is not a quiet corner that will shrug and look away.
You have proved that already!
Wychavon Town is not some harmless sketch on a planner’s pad, it is a beach head. Once it is in, it grows. We have seen it again and again, a modest expansion on paper that spreads like a cancer, swallowing fields, views and the character of whole villages to become yet another generic suburban sprawl.
If we let this start, it will not stop. We cannot allow that here.
By signing, you have taken the first step. You have said this matters. Now we need to turn that thought into real pressure. Talk to your neighbours, friends and work colleagues. Challenge the story that this is inevitable. Ask the awkward questions. This is our landscape, our communities and our future.
We get one chance to stop this before it is too late.
OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS DO NOT CARE. Here is an extract from a letter from Nigel Huddleston MP to Matthew Pennycook MP
“Both the local authority and I have been broadly supportive of the new Wychavon
Town, which will provide 10,000 new homes in two phases, with the first phase
due to deliver 5,000 homes by 2041.”
So let us be clear. The council machine and our MP are aligned with the mindless government goals and are behind this scheme. The cavalry is not coming. Right now, the only serious resistance is you, the people who live here.
That is not a reason to give up, it is a reason to dig in. If they will not grow a spine and stand up to this abomination, then it is down to each and every one of us to show them the way.
We must send a simple message. Acceptance is not an option. Only a clear and united NO will do.
So please, keep going. Share the petition link. Ask each person who signs to share it again and again. Talk about Wychavon Town in the pub, at the school gate, in the village hall, at work. The more people understand what is at stake, the harder it becomes for anyone to pretend this is being done with local consent.
Together we can shift the conversation. Together we can stand against the destruction of our green and pleasant land. Together we can show that this district will not go quietly into the night.
