Stop Wychavon Town! Help oppose the destruction of Worcestershire countryside

The Issue

Dropping a ten thousand-home settlement by a motorway junction in the open countryside between Worcester and Pershore is planning for convenience, not for communities. This is not just a piece of spare land; it is productive farmland that supports local agriculture and contributes to the rural charm and environmental balance of the region.

The Government and Homes England's current proposal contradicts their established policies of prioritising the regeneration of existing towns and the usage of brownfield sites. Instead, they aim to obliterate vast swathes of greenfield land by building the new Wychavon Town, significantly impacting the local ecology, wildlife habitats, and the character of our cherished countryside.

The countryside near Worcestershire Parkway is a vital part of our community's identity. With the proposal in action, it will be replaced with roads, concrete, and congestion, depriving future generations of the natural beauty and rural landscapes we have inherited.

We demand the Government, Homes England  & local authorities re-evaluate their plans and place emphasis on sustainable, environmentally conscious development. Building on brownfield sites and considering modest extensions to existing towns are plausible and responsible alternatives. These actions not only ensure the protection of our countryside but also invigorate and rejuvenate areas that might otherwise languish.

Join us in opposing this ill-conceived plan to create Wychavon Town. Sign this petition to urge all concerned to honour their brownfield-first policies and protect our open countryside for future generations. Let us advocate for planning that prioritises communities over convenience.
