I want to share my story, not just for myself, but for all those who've suffered in silence due to workplace abuse at Carterton St Vincent De Paul. My experience at this store changed from one of hope and community service into a nightmare of toxic behaviour from management, no support or gratitude, texted not to return for trying to uphold the mission statement and help someone in need. Unfortunately, I am not alone.

At least four victims have  stepped forward with solid evidence of the abusive environment perpetrated by the current area manager from Wellington. Stories have surfaced, painting a picture of systematic misconduct and a lack of accountability. This toxic behaviour not only diminishes the dignity and mental well-being of those affected but also tarnishes the reputation of an organization meant to serve the community with compassion and integrity.

Numerous employees have voiced their concerns, only to be met with inaction and further gaslighting. An environment that should be supportive and respectful has been allowed to deteriorate, causing distress and harm to staff. It's time for change, and that begins by severing the connection of the Wellington area manager from any influence over the Carterton store.

We demand fair investigations and protective measures to ensure the well-being of the employees. This includes implementing a zero-tolerance policy regarding abusive conduct, creating an anonymous reporting system, and initiating regular welfare check-ins by an independent body to ensure compliance and safety.

The Carterton St Vincent De Paul store must be a safe place for both its employees and customers. Immediate action is necessary to restore trust and ensure that the core values of this beloved organization are upheld. We call upon the higher authorities to intervene and to set a standard that ensures a safe working environment.
