Last year, the GBGB reported that 3,809 greyhounds were hurt during races, and 346 of them died. 23.6% of veterinarians recommended that greyhounds be euthanised, while 21.5% of greyhounds died suddenly on the track. Many greyhounds are continually injected with drugs. For instance, 12 greyhounds were injected with drugs in 2024. The GBGB also reported that 49 greyhounds were "designated unsuitable for homing" last year. Evidence suggests that the majority of greyhounds are sold to countries such as Pakistan and China, where they are used for breeding and racing while also being kept in terrible conditions.
