It has been announced that WellStar Health System of Atlanta will not only shut down a Level 1 Trauma Hospital in the poorest area of the city, it is also planning to close at least 4 Clinics and a state-of-the-art Imaging/Lab facility in the SW Metro Atlanta area. Needless to say, these targeted facilities are located in predominately black communities, interrupting the convenience factor for the many Senior Citizens who live in these neighborhoods. To close them down would again leave our communities in healthcare deserts. It happens to us ALL of the time!!! I am a middle-class retired senior citizen living in an upscale subdivision with over 600 homes in SW Atlanta, which is just 2 miles away from 1 of these clinics and the Imaging/Lab. It’s WRONG and we need to do what we can to stop this from continuing to happen in our communities.
