Stop violent seizures of banned dog breeds by police

The Issue

Losing a pet is never easy, but losing them to violent and unwarranted seizures by the authorities is a trauma no one should suffer. I am speaking from personal experience, having lost two beloved Bully dogs to such actions. These animals were part of my family, and the way they were taken was not only heartless but deeply disturbing for my family and neighbors. This was just one statement from one owner I my self have lost two Bullys to clotting disorder which they suffer with and many have died in police kennels suddenly

Currently, certain dog breeds are banned under specific legislation, often due to historical concerns over public safety. However, it's important to note that aggression in dogs is not solely determined by their breed, but rather by a combination of factors including upbringing, environment, and individual personality. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, responsible pet ownership and proper training are more effective in preventing dog bites than breed-specific laws.

Despite these facts, law enforcement officers often employ undue force and aggressive tactics when removing these dogs from their homes. The traumatic nature of these encounters often leaves both the pets and their owners helpless and deeply affected. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) highlights that these practices not only traumatize animals but also damage community trust in law enforcement.

We need to adopt more humane and effective methods of managing banned breeds. Implementing better training for officers who handle these situations and increasing community awareness about responsible dog ownership could prevent the violent seizures from happening in the first place.

Join me in calling for a review of current legislation and law enforcement practices involving banned breeds. Demand an approach that focuses on compassion and education, rather than fear and punishment. Together, we can make a difference for countless families and their pets. Please sign this petition to stop the violent seizures of our loyal companions.
