Stop violence! Ensure Safety and Justice for Women in India!

The Issue

To

The Honorable President of India,

We, the undersigned, urgently request you to take immediate and decisive action to address the escalating crisis of violence against women in India. The recent tragic rape and murder of a junior female doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata on August 9th, 2024, serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threat faced by women across our nation.

Violence against women remains a pervasive issue across various settings, including workplaces and educational institutions.

The time for action is now. We must work together to ensure that no more lives are lost to gender-based violence.

We request immediate action on the indictment of all the criminals and their accomplices associated with the crime in West Bengal. We demand swift legal proceedings in the Fast Track Special Court, ensuring proper justice for the victim and stringent punishments for the offenders, including capital punishment.

We further request you to ensure safety and security for all women in India and prevent all violence against them.

As we write this on India's 78th Independence Day we demand true independence of women in India.

We look forward to your prompt response and decisive action on this critical issue.

Respectfully,

Indians of Houston
