Stop Viksit Bharat Yojna's Misuse of Public Funds
The Issue
Petition Against Inefficient and Wasteful Implementation of the Pradhanmantri Viksit Bharat Yojna
The recent announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the Pradhanmantri Viksit Bharat Yojna — which proposes giving ₹15,000 to 3.5 crore youngsters upon receiving their first job offer — raises serious concerns about the effective and responsible use of taxpayer money.
While the intent of encouraging youth employment is commendable, history has shown that similar initiatives — including the Skill Development Scheme, Apprenticeship Programs, and the National Employability Enhancement Mission — have largely failed to produce significant and sustainable improvements in employment rates.
Key Concerns:
No Real Employment Growth – The scheme risks becoming another numbers-driven exercise, where the government can claim inflated employment figures without actual, long-term job creation.
High Risk of Misuse and Fraud – Without robust mechanisms to verify genuine job offers, there is a strong likelihood of fake employment claims being created solely to receive the ₹15,000 incentive.
Failure of Existing Employment Programs – Decades of skill missions, labour reforms, and training initiatives have not delivered on their promises. This new scheme seems to ignore these structural failures rather than address them.
Neglect of Sustainable Solutions – Instead of offering direct cash incentives that can be easily misused, the government should focus on:
Strengthening education and skill training infrastructure.
Providing easy-access student loans with repayment linked to actual earnings.
Offering tax benefits to companies that create genuine jobs.
Establishing transparent monitoring systems to verify employment authenticity.
The reality is that this scheme appears designed to produce quick, superficial results for statistical gains, rather than building a long-term foundation for youth employability. By paying out cash for “first job” claims — without adequate verification — the government risks encouraging manipulation and wasting vast amounts of public money.
Our Stand:
This is 100% misuse of taxpayer funds. We urge the Government of India to immediately reconsider and revoke this policy in its current form, and instead adopt transparent, result-oriented, and accountable strategies that truly address unemployment at its roots.
We call upon all concerned citizens to sign this petition to demand fiscal responsibility, better policy design, and a focus on real, sustainable employment generation over politically driven quick fixes.
