Dear Supporters,

Three years ago, I started this petition because I believed Victoria residents deserved a more open, transparent and accountable process for deciding the future of the Bayview Place Roundhouse lands. More than 1,200 people added their names in support. Thank you to everyone who took the time to stand with us.

Although Council ultimately approved the rezoning, the concerns raised in this petition did not disappear. Many of the questions about planning, public consultation, heritage, infrastructure, neighbourhood impacts and good governance remain just as important today.

Throughout this process, Arthur McInnis worked closely with me, researching the proposal, reviewing the public record and helping to bring many of these issues to wider public attention. Since then, he has continued that work of holding the Council to account. What began as concern over a single development has grown into a much broader examination of how Victoria makes major planning decisions.

Arthur has now decided to run for Victoria City Council.

His campaign is about more than a single development. It is about restoring confidence that City Hall will make decisions transparently, fairly and in the long-term interests of Victoria’s residents. Whether the issue is development, infrastructure, housing, transportation, public finances or neighbourhood planning, he believes residents deserve complete information, genuine consultation and elected representatives who assess every proposal on its own merits.

If you signed this petition because those principles matter to you, I encourage you to learn more about Arthur’s campaign, read his research and commentary on his Victoria City Hall Forum here https://www.facebook.com/groups/2042420195916788 or his campaign website at www.arthurmcinnis.ca

Whether or not you choose to become involved, thank you again for supporting this petition. It demonstrated that many Victorians care deeply about the future of our city and about the quality of local decision-making.

Thank you again for your support.
