 The situation is agonisingly compounded by the astronomical costs associated with her care. I am not alone in this struggle; countless pet owners are faced with the impossible decision between saving a cherished family member and facing severe financial strain due to exorbitant veterinary fees.

No wonder all the dog shelters are full, with owners having to give up their cherished family members.

One vet in our area wanted 2500 for a Ct scan plus 450.00 consultation fee

There was no need for a consult as she has already been diagnosed, my vet does not have a ct scanner. All  we needed  was  CT SCAN

I have already used  my insurance to its near limit approx 5000 so far

 The primary concern revolves around the lack of regulation and transparency in veterinary pricing structures, which is leaving pet owners vulnerable. According to recent surveys, veterinary costs have surged by over 10% in the past few years, outpacing wage growth and placing a significant burden on families and individuals who are simply seeking to provide proper care for their pets.

We recognise that veterinarians deserve fair compensation for their rigorous education and services. However, there is an urgent need to balance fair wages with affordable and accessible care for all animals. Proposed solutions include increasing transparency in pricing, implementing standardised fees for common procedures, and encouraging veterinary schools to educate students about ethical pricing.
