Stop verbal bullying in schools

Stop verbal bullying in schools
The issue
My name is Melchi, and I am standing up for my Year 9 brother who has been the target of unnecessary and mean comments from a Year 8 student, Manaia. This isn't just about my brother; this is about all students who face verbal bullying and cyberbullying in schools. Every student deserves to go to school without the fear of being targeted for expressing themselves or for their personal interests, like playing Minecraft.
Manaia has been publicly targeting my brother, spreading her opinions and private conversations to Years 7-10 students. This type of behavior contributes to a toxic school environment and undermines the inclusive and respectful atmosphere we should strive for in our schools. Holding personal opinions is everyone's right, but when those opinions are used to harm others, it becomes a serious issue that affects students' mental health and self-esteem.
According to the Anti-Bullying Alliance, one in every five students feels unsafe at school due to bullying. Yet, schools have the power and responsibility to create safe spaces through clear anti-bullying policies, support systems, and interventions. By focusing on prevention and encouraging kindness and respect, schools can mitigate bullying and foster a culture of acceptance.
I urge the school administration and teachers to address this issue by reinforcing the school's anti-bullying policy and ensuring that these situations are dealt with promptly and effectively. Not only should verbal bullying be addressed, but students should be educated on the impact of their words and actions on others.
Join me in urging our schools to take a stand, reinforce policies, create awareness, and prioritize student well-being over hurtful opinions. Let's make sure every student feels safe, valued, and respected in their school environment. By signing this petition, we can collectively call for a change and demand that Manaia Ball stops her behavior, encouraging not only her but also others to keep any mean comments to themselves and reflect on the impact of their words. Sign this petition to make our schools safer and free of bullying.
